On The Athletic Field
The men of the UW Acacia colony were pleased to announce our arrival on campus this past January through participation in UW Intramural sports leagues. Eager to enjoy athletic competition, meet new people, and become more involved within the UW community, UW Acacia immediately completed the registration needed to compete in intramural sports this current winter quarter.
Intramural sports programs are designed to provide ample opportunity for students to participate in organized recreational activity. At the UW, structured leagues and seeded tournaments offer a variety of sports and activities for members within our community. UW Acacia chose basketball and volleyball as our two sports to participate in this academic quarter.
As the season came and went, we grew and matured as a team and overall collective unit. We learned the subtleties of working together as a group to overcome disadvantages and peril. Also, we learned to effectively communicate our ideas and emotions and how to work together as a cohesive entity.
Lessons such as these, learned in the heat of the moment, allowed brothers to foster deeper interpersonal relationships between one another as well as identify and empathize with each other. In just a few short months we had transformed from a collection of separate individuals into a bona fide fellowship of respecting brothers. Nothing can get better than that.
